This policy explains how Fast Guns Security (Pty) Ltd, trading as Marcuria Security (“Marcuria Security”, “we”, “us”), handles personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It covers this website and the information you give us when you contact us using the details on it.

1. Who we are

2. What this website collects

This website has no contact form, does not use analytics or advertising tools, and does not set cookies. Our Cookie Policy has the details.

When you visit, the server hosting the website receives the technical information any website needs to send a page to your browser, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Our hosting provider may keep this in server logs for security and troubleshooting.

3. Information you give us

When you phone or email us, we receive the information you choose to share. This usually includes:

  • your name, job title and company;
  • your email address and phone number;
  • details of the security service you are asking about, such as the site, assets, event or journey involved, and dates.

Please send only what we need to answer your enquiry. Do not send us special personal information (such as health information, religious beliefs or criminal records) or information about children.

Giving us your information is voluntary. If you choose not to, we may not be able to answer your enquiry or prepare a quote.

4. How we use it and why

  • To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote. This is a step towards an agreement you have asked for (POPIA section 11(1)(b)) or, when you contact us on behalf of a company, our legitimate interest in responding (section 11(1)(f)).
  • To provide services that have been agreed. This is necessary to perform the agreement (section 11(1)(b)) or is in our legitimate interest (section 11(1)(f)).
  • To keep records the law requires, such as tax records (section 11(1)(c)).
  • To keep this website running and secure, which is in our legitimate interest (section 11(1)(f)).

We do not use your information for a purpose that is incompatible with the reason we collected it.

5. Direct marketing

We only send marketing by email, SMS or other electronic means if you have consented, or if you are an existing customer and the marketing is about similar services, as section 69 of POPIA allows. Every marketing message will tell you how to opt out, free of charge.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only:

  • with service providers that help us run our business, such as email and website hosting providers, who may process it only on our instructions and must keep it secure (sections 20 and 21);
  • where needed to deliver a service you have asked for, such as with our sister company, Marcuria Logistics, when you ask for a combined security and logistics service;
  • where the law, a court or a regulator requires it, or to protect our legal rights.

7. Information sent outside South Africa

Some service providers, such as email and website hosting providers, may store information on servers outside South Africa. We transfer personal information outside South Africa only as section 72 of POPIA allows, for example where the recipient is bound by laws or agreements that give similar protection, or where the transfer is necessary to perform an agreement you have asked for.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or longer where the law requires, such as for tax records. We then delete or de-identify it (section 14).

9. How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage and unauthorised access (section 19). If we believe your information has been accessed without authorisation, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as section 22 requires.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request access to it;
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date, excessive or unlawfully obtained;
  • object to us processing your information, including for direct marketing;
  • withdraw your consent where we rely on it;
  • complain to the Information Regulator.

You can make a request or objection by email, by phone or in writing, using the details in section 1. Objections are free. We may need to confirm your identity before acting. Requests for access are handled under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA), which may involve a prescribed fee.

This website links to Google Maps and the website of our sister company, Marcuria Logistics. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and this policy does not apply to them.
